Rowdy in Ondo court as lawyer, prosecutor exchange blows

The premises of Ondo Magistrate Court in Ondo town was on Wednesday thrown into rowdy following a clash that occurred between a police officer in the court and a lawyer.

The police officer is the prosecutor in charge of Magistrate court I in the area.Trouble started when a matter involving a middle aged man whose name was giving as Afeez Smith came up, who had earlier claimed to be a biological son of a former Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mr. Musilu Smith and used the name to duped one Fabode Akinsola and others including police officers serving in the town.

The case which was brought before a Chief Magistrate Mrs Ajibade B.F had granted bail to the accused person with one million naira in like sum with two surety, the sureties which she said must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court and they must swear an oath of Affidavit and also evidence of tax payment for two years must be provided, while their identities must be verify by the court and adjourned the matter till 4 of July 2018 for hearing.

At the resume hearing of the case yesterday the lawyer in companied of the sureties that stood for the bail of the accused person, had pleaded with the court that the whereabouts of the accused person is unknown to him and others.

The development which made the prosecutor to responded and openly told court that the lawyers is not telling the court truth of the matter and told the court that the accused person who is a hardened criminal had jumped bail.

The prosecutor however said the accused person had absconded because of another crime in the town, the matter which he said is presently at the Yaba divisional police station In Ondo town.

The development who made the lawyer to rise up from the bench and went straight to the prosecutor, the move which later resulted into confrontations and shout-out during which the duo engaged themselves in free for all.

The development which thrown the court room into rowdy for some minutes as other spectators in the court rushed out of the court for safety.

Earlier in the court two lawyers had engaged themselves in verbal words which also thrown the court into rowdy, the move which made everybody that present in the court including Journalist to move towards the direction apparently to cash the glimpse of the event.
