Jigawa APC guber aspirant blast Badaru, denounces indirect primaries

Jigawa State APC gubernatorial aspirant, Hashim Ubale Yusuf has challenged the decision of the party executive committee in the state to go for indirect primaries which he said is against the interest of aspirants and party members across the state.

Hashim stated this while briefing newsmen on his stand on the state party’s decision and that of the Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar following the endorsement of indirect primary election for the state governorship.

“Adopting indirect primary election model is a tactful plan to manipulate the process in favour of unpopular candidates like Governor Badaru.”He said.

He explained that the directives of the National executive committee of the party was violated by going on their ways with out consultation of aspirants and other critical stakeholders as directed by the National Executive Committee of the party.

“The state executive committee shall make consultation with aspirants and other critical stallholders of the party to discuss and agree on which kind of primaries they will go through”, NEC said.

“Also must be signed by the majority of the state executive committee, aspirants and critical stakeholders in attendance at the meeting were such resolution is reached”

“In Jigawa such conditions have been violated and we were not consulted at all because the governor is afraid that he can not get the ticket for his return by the party members due to his non performance and incapability to deliver and carry all the members of the party along. Hashim noted.

Hashim however said direct primaries will deepen the country’s democracy especially in Jigawa State as it will ensure and guarantee level playing ground for all aspirants and will give the party members a role to play as well as sense of belonging.

‎Speaking after submitting his form to APC national headquarters Abuja, governor Badaru said, he decided to seek for a second term to enable him complete many of the developmental projects and policies designed to build strong local economy for the state.

Governor Badaru added that, he is ready for any form of primary election adopted by the party and as a democrat he is ready to accept whatever is the outcome of the election.

The Jigawa state APC chapter through its publicity secretary Nasiru Dahiru Jahun said the party decided to go for indirect primaries due to some challenges associated with direct primaries, which include logistics, insecurity and insufficient time.
